Something I’ve learned to develop of the summer are some of my strengths and weaknesses.  It seems as though without the proper instruction and drive I don’t try to become better at who I am.  I feel as though I try to do things that don’t fit who I am.  It seems as though I’ve developed into a musician who can’t hear, can’t play and can’t analyze, but at the same time I feel the passion and the warmth that a Beethoven sonata brings but can’t hear how, I hear why but not how.  It’s hard for me to determine the 13th chord in a Chopin prelude, but easy for me to tell the struggles of the inner musician that was within Chopin.  I feel that sometimes I would be best used if I were sitting in the back in a sound booth listening and training people, it even seems that I would be more likely to succeed and become more useful if that’s all I did.  I think that I have a deep passion for music, and I feel that without it would not be possible for me to function with a sane amount of confidence, I also think that the most rewarding thing is when a group learns how to function together and cover for each others mistakes.  My weakness are numerous, and it always seems to be that way.  I’m sometimes surprised I’ve made it this far with my training.  I don’t know what and how and why I’m in it but it just seems like the right thing to do.

Week in Review

Monday

Meeting with the pastor and staff on Monday was a nice introduction to the church.  I worked on MOnday at getting people to come and play in our praise band for wednesday rehersal.  It was a good afternoon, I met Andy Anderson and spent a bit of time with him and got some names of people to help with the band, called alot of people introducing myself and setting up meetings with them.  Then I was welcomed into the world of ministry with a board meeting.  That was a brain buster there.  I'm on a commitee/board that doesnt do anything and relies soley on what other people do for them to get the job done.  A stressful introduction, I knew it already though Thank you God for being there with me.

Monday after board meetings Andy and I stayed out till 2-230 or so.

Tuesday

Tuesday was a day to recover, but I got quite a bit done, I foudn the song that we will be doing on sunday and talked with quite a few people who were in the old praise band and asked them to come back, and most of them agreed.  Andy, and Davey and I went to Guitar center in Kalamazoo that was a fun trip.  Then tuesday night i watched Deadliest catch fun times.  I got Pastor Tucker into that show and he loves it.

Wednesday

Wednesday I was scrambling to get somethings done but with God I managed.  I went to the middle school with Dave to hopefully recruit some singers and instrumentalists for our praise band.  Then spent most of the afternoon preparing for the rehersal.  I think our rehersal that evening went pretty well.  Not as well as it could have.  However it was good to get some of the old people back and involved with the rehersal.  God has done incredible things here at this church in the past and he will continue to do even more amazing things this summer.  Then I found out that Andy had a job interview in Cadillac Michigan.  We'll continue to make strides towards moving this congregation into a sense of worshiping the Lord.

Thursday

Thursday was a day of rest kind of.  I came in to work later than normal, and it felt good.  I had my first choir rehersal thursday evening, and the people sound very enthusiastic about learning what i have to teach them which is good.  We are trying some things taht they havent done in a long time.  they are used to southern Gospel and we are trying some of the things that I've sung here at Judson, it will be interesting to see what it sounds like once we get it worked up.   I said goodbye to Andy for the summer, he'll be back and will probably end up going to Judson and living with me next year.  It will be exciting to hear him talk about his story and what he's been through.

We'll going to go run around with a bunch middle schoolers.  Talk with you later

Internship

Wow been a long time since I've updated this thing.  I'm supposed to keep a journal of how my internship is doing.  This is the way I've chosen to do it.

Well, It's been an exciting and incredible first three days.  I arive in Coldwater to experience the equivalent of mass chaos spared on by the youth pastor.  He does this thing called Friday night Alive.  Kid's from the neighborhood are invited and there were about 300 kids in all it was a huge event What a welcome it was.

Saturday Pastor Dave Anderson and I and his wife went and we watched the kids enter the prom.  Was a really awesome time we saw alot of dresses and alot of tuxes that were ugly.  Next year we are going to do the Joan Rivers thing like during the Oscars, what a hoot.

Sunday was my first sunday here at FBC, quite different than what I'm used to.  The service starts at 9:00 and I was thrust into the middle of everything and given the chance to start by running there sound and media shout things.  It was exciting to start fresh somewhere.  Then Pastor Tucker and I went shopping for our grocieres.  That was exciting.  We had subway for lunch and then I went to a bible study party put on by Duane and Suzie Wagner.  Got myself three pairs of sunglasses that was fun.  There daughter works in Disney World and gets alot of free things from the lost and found and sent them a whole box full of glasses.  Sunday evening there was a Power of Love concert.  It's pretty much a children's choir and is a very good ministry tool, hopefully i can use some of them this summer.  After the concert one of the audience members died.  Just feel over and went into a diabetic shock.  It was quite an event, but if i'm going to die i would want to die after an event like that.  It really put into perspective for the kids what there ministry means to thousands of people around the world.

That's as exciting a kickoff to a summer as it gets.  Have to go recruit some players and some musicians by going to a local battle of the bands.  Hope to hear from all of you please don't hesitate to call.  517-279-7912.

Every year millions of people make new years resolutions.  and if we look at it closely resolutions comes from two words resolve, and lution(not an english major, i know its not a word, but bear with me here thats not the point)  Resolve?  sound like a good word.  Instead of thinking we need to start doing we need to thing of things we want to finish, or end.  Which in my opinion is exactly why i dont ever make "resolutions" cause i hate finishing things.  Mainly cause i get the icky feeling of completion and know i cant ever go back to it again.  which is exactly why i've resolved not to resolve anything..(except homework, cause i dont care to much about that).

Heres a quote i dreamnt about

Dying isnt the part that hurts, its the part right before you hit the wall the feels the worse.

This was accompained by a mini cooper smashing into a telephone pole with none other than my sister driving.  Some how or another i was in the ambulance working on her.  kind of scary if oyu ask me.
